Civil Ceremonies and Civil Partnerships
Here at Thornbury Castle we have four splendid public rooms in which you can hold your ceremony.
The Tudor Hall We are very proud of our Tudor Hall as there’s nothing else quite like it in the country. It is a truly magnificent room, which is guaranteed to illicit gasps of wonder from your guests. The room features an impressive mullioned window, stone walls adorned with tapestries and paintings, and a huge original fireplace. Ceremonies take place in front of the magnificent window with guests seated in traditional aisles. Smaller ceremonies take place in front of the fireplace with guests seated in an arc around it. The Tudor Hall can accommodate up to 75 guests and is a particularly magical setting for winter weddings.
The Drawing Room The Drawing Room provides another splendid setting for your ceremony. The wood panelled room is furnished with antiques and plush Knole sofas, with original oil paintings adorning the walls. There’s also an ornate fireplace and two magnificent windows. The room lends itself to relaxed and informal gatherings and is particularly romantic when lit by firelight and candelabras. The ceremonies take place in front of one of the windows - overlooking the walled Tudor gardens. This room can also accommodate up to 45 guests.
The Library The Library is a delightful room for an intimate wedding for close family and friends. It has a splendid Oriel window that overlooks the walled Tudor garden and it’s here that the ceremonies take place. The Library can accommodate up to 15 guests.
The Summer House It doesn’t come any more romantic than this. Our Summer House is located within the walls of the oldest Tudor garden in England. The ceremony takes place inside whilst guests remain on the lawn. This is a delightful way to get married and will be a talking point for years to come.
